Winter Tragedy

Sheathed by freezing rain
pine boughs kiss the earth
until with resounding crack
death snuffs life,
vital sap oozing onto ground.

  1. I share your pain. We have spent the last week lugging broken pine boughs to the front lawn--more than 50 cartloads. The "chipper man" is coming Saturday. My entire front lawn is covered with broken boughs. It is very sad. Jeanine

  2. I "bush whacked" my pine bows because I was afraid of that very thing!

  3. I live near the Chesapeake Bay, and I've had a bay leaf tree make it for 15 winters... it's about 8' high... this winter may have finally done it in.
